Local Author Announces Launch of Publishing Company

AUSTIN, Texas - Francois Pointeau, author of “Beer Songs for the Lonely,” announced today the launch of a new publishing company - New Belleville Press. The company will specialize in publication of artists with strong, unconventional voices who challenge the cultural mainstream. Pointeau wants to do more than put books on shelves; his goal is to create beautiful objects in the tradition of John Martin at Black Sparrow Press. “I want to publish small, collectible, jewels in collaboration with this generation’s literary mavericks.”

The first book to be published by the new press is Neurotica, a short story cycle by Elva Maxine Beach. The book is a provocative collection of explicit stories chronicling the narrator’s intimate journey from sensual awakening to spiritual transcendence. “I wanted to capture the reality of my own spiritual travels through a fictionalized accounting of the sexcapades I have both lived and imagined.” Beach is the Chair of the Creative Writing Department at Austin Community College in Austin, Texas.

Café Caffeine will host a launch party for New Belleville Press and its publication of Neurotica with a reading Thursday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. Café Caffeine is located at 909 W. Mary in Austin, Texas.
